How a teenage sports injury accidentally turned me into a shamanic healer with a neuroscience obsession...

 

I have a bit of an unusual story. When I was 14, I was competing in a high school sports match as a girl wrestler and broke my neck. I dreamt about the injury before it happened, just like it happened. I left my body, met my ancestors, and was sent back to earth when I thought I was dead, but when I landed, I was completely paralyzed from the neck down.

 

The doctors said I had less than a 2% chance of any recovery, but then a miracle happened.

With a blend of Western Medicine, medical advocacy from my amazing family, and intuitively directing energy and intention with my mind, what I now know is self-directed neuroplasticity, I healed and walked out of the hospital.

 

This experience was the beginning of my opening of a Shamanic Neurotype, a form of neurodivegence that gives me access to visionary states of consciousness, and psychic abilities and sensitivities that are often valued still in Indigenous communities, but not in the West.

 

That was over 25 years ago, and I have since dedicated my career to understanding my own reality through my work, advocacy, and support of others. I am passionate about how we bridge understanding between Indigenous healing modalities with modern neuroscience and healthcare innovation.

Over the last 20 years, I have become an internationally recognized leader in psychedelic and neurodivergent healthcare, ecological design, and social justice initiatives that meet at the intersection of these spaces.

 

I have spent nearly 15 years working and studying with Indigenous plant medicine traditions, all while balancing these perspectives with modern science.
